A CLASSIFIED UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITE
Luang Prabang is a place where history, atmosphere, and religion combine to create astonishing beauty. Set in the northern mountains where the Nam Khan tributary joins the Majestic Mekong, the surrounding mountain ranges, are spectacular, and rise up to 1200 meters in height. The town itself is a magical mixture of 32 ancient and exquisite Buddhist temples combined with French colonial architecture that creates a unique Indo-Chinese atmosphere. The city of Luang Prabang has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1995 because of its architectural, religious and cultural heritage. Today, it is one of the richest province in Laos, yet remaining quiet, peaceful with a unique and traditional atmosphere.
